Pulane Maltji

Pulane Maltji (21 years) is from Alexandra Township. She recently lost two brothers and a sister. Having finished secondary school and her ambition is to get a Bachelor in Psychology at the Johannesburg University.  At this moment she’s busy with her preparation course to qualify for the University entrance.

UPDATE February 2011

Pulane has succesfully taken all necessary exams to be able to enter Johannesburg University at the beginning of 2012. She has made great progress and we would like to congratulate her effort and fine results.

Pulane writes the following:

‘I was born into a family of 7 children and I’m the last child. My mother had me when she was 41 and she always called me the miracle child. My father left her when I was three months which made her a single mother of 7. She tried all she could to put food on the table for all of us.
I know that I deserve this bursary because I am self motivated to give my best in all that I do, I get along with people, I am sensitive to other people’s feelings, I also put heart in all that I do, I am determined and prepared to work hard and to make you proud.
I know what I want in life and that’s to be educated. I also want to be where my brothers and sisters never got the chance to be. Given an opportunity I will make sure that I grab it with both hands and never let it go.’
